Since 1933, MHKC has thrived through the generosity of dedicated partners. Explore our relationships and access organizational documents below.
Organizations whose commitment makes our mission possible
Our longest-standing partnership is with local Kiwanis Clubs. The Kiwanis Club of Montavilla founded camp in 1933 and, along with other area Kiwanians, stewarded MHKC for many decades. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. We continue to partner with dozens of clubs throughout Oregon to envision the future of our organization and raise the funds necessary to carry out our mission.
MHKC sits on 22 beautiful acres in the Mt. Hood National Forest, and our partnership with the U.S. Forest Service is pivotal — allowing individuals with disabilities to access one of the most scenic national forests in the country. With the Little Zig Zag River running through the middle of camp and old-growth trees on all sides, this is truly one of a kind.
MHKC’s 1:1 camper-to-counselor ratio is made possible in large part through partnerships with PSU and other local universities. Students earn college credit while serving as counselors, gaining real-world experience in disability services, recreation therapy, and human services fields.
